Leveling tier list

How fast and how safely each class levels: kill speed, how often you have to stop and rest, and how easily you die. Every class can reach 60, and this list is about the trip there.

SFastest and safest

Hunter

Level as Beast Mastery

Your pet tanks while you shoot from range, so you take almost no damage and barely stop between pulls. It can even take on tougher elites alone.

Warlock

Level as Affliction

Your demon holds enemies while damage over time kills several at once. Drain Life and Life Tap turn health and mana into each other, so you almost never sit down to rest.

Mage

Level as Frost

Frost slows and freezes everything, so enemies rarely reach you. Pulling a whole group and blasting it down is the fastest way to level, and you make your own food and water.

AStrong and forgiving

Paladin

Level as Retribution

Plate armor and self heals mean you almost never die. Kills are a bit slower than the S tier, but you can keep going for a long time without stopping.

Shaman

Level as Enhancement

Big melee hits plus healing on yourself. Totems add damage and safety. A smooth leveler once your weapon upgrades start landing.

Priest

Level as Shadow

Shield yourself, then Shadow spells and a wand. Spirit Tap refills your mana after kills, so you rarely stop to drink. Kills are slower, but there is very little downtime.

BGood, with a catch

Druid

Level as Feral

The first levels are slow. Once Cat Form arrives, Feral becomes one of the fastest levelers, and you can still tank or heal for groups.

Warrior

Level as Protection

Level as Protection: Revenge and Shield Block keep the damage you take low, so you stop to eat far less than as Arms. Still no real self healing, so pull with care.

Rogue

Level as Combat

Kills single enemies fast and can sneak past fights you don't need. But you have no healing, so you eat and bandage after harder pulls.
