Where is it
In Dustwallow Marsh. Every player needs the Drakefire Amulet in their bags to enter. It does not need to be equipped.
Get attuned: the Drakefire Amulet
Blizzard confirmed the attunement is the same as in the original game. Start early, bring friends for the elite quests and plan several dungeon runs: Blackrock Depths, then Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire.
- Dragonkin Menace. Start in the Burning Steppes with Helendis Riverhorn.
- The True Masters. A series of six quests that follow the Black Dragonflight's hold over the Blackrock orcs.
- Marshal Windsor. Marshal Maxwell at Morgan's Vigil sends you into Blackrock Depths to find Marshal Windsor.
- Abandoned Hope. Windsor sends you back to Marshal Maxwell.
- A Crumpled Up Note. Loot the note from enemies in Blackrock Depths and bring it to Windsor in his cell.
- A Shred of Hope. Get Windsor's lost information from Golem Lord Argelmach and General Angerforge in Blackrock Depths.
- Jail Break!. Help Windsor escape Blackrock Depths, then report to Marshal Maxwell.
- Stormwind Rendezvous. Meet Squire Rowe at the Stormwind gates to call Marshal Windsor.
- The Great Masquerade. Bring friends: the reveal in Stormwind Keep turns into a fight.
- The Dragon's Eye. Highlord Bolvar Fordragon sends you to find someone who can help, Haleh in Winterspring.
- Drakefire Amulet. Take the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire and bring it back for your amulet.
- Blood and Thunder. Start in the Badlands with Warlord Goretooth in Kargath.
- Warlord's Command. A run through Lower Blackrock Spire.
- Eitrigg and Thrall. Report to Eitrigg in Orgrimmar, then speak with Thrall.
- For the Horde!. Back to Lower Blackrock Spire for the head of Warchief Rend Blackhand.
- What the Wind Carries. Listen to Thrall, then find Rexxar walking the roads of Desolace in The Champion of the Horde.
- The Testament of Rexxar. Bring Rexxar's testament to Myranda the Hag in the Western Plaguelands.
- Oculus Illusions. Collect Black Dragonspawn Eyes for Myranda.
- Emberstrife. Use the Amulet of Draconic Subversion to meet the drake Emberstrife in Dustwallow Marsh.
- The Test of Skulls. Four tests: bring Emberstrife the skulls of Scryer, Somnus, Chronalis and Axtroz.
- Ascension.... Emberstrife gives you the Dull Drakefire Amulet. Take it back to Rexxar.
- Blood of the Black Dragon Champion. Take the blood from General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire and return to Rexxar for your amulet.
Dungeon guides for the runs: Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire.
Bring fire resistance
Blizzard's own advice for Forever: build up your fire resistance before you go in. The fight has three phases with heavy fire damage, and the raid has to move as the battle shifts.
- Phase 1: on the ground
- In the original game, the tank turned her away from the raid while everyone else stayed off her front and tail.
- Phase 2: in the air
- She took off, threw fireballs at players and breathed fire across the room, while whelps poured out of the side caves.
- Phase 3: she lands
- Back on the ground with a fear on the whole raid and fire bursting from the floor. Keep calm and kill her fast.
The phases describe the original encounter. Blizzard says Forever's version turns up the heat, so details may change. We update this after launch.
